As Basil mentioned, we saw Neon Indian last weekend.  One of the opening acts was a led by Occidental student, Ramona Gonzalez, in a three member band called, Nite Jewel (great name!).  Going shoeless the entire act, her voice was accompanied by a lo-fi sound and melodies similar to the headliner.  Supposedly, she records solely on portable 8-track cassette deck, often composing her songs by layered tape edits. Gonzalez is also known on the art scene for her multimedia art installations.
