You know a band was talented when multiple members split off to produce successful solo work. The Strokes did just that. Damn I miss them!

All sadness aside, the best part about The Strokes members’ solo projects is that they each tackled a distinct genre. Albert Hammond Jr’s straight-forward, cheerful rock is a continent away from Fabrizio Moretti’s brazilian-infused jamming with Little Joy. And, at the end of 2009, Julian Casablancas brought his scratchy, distinctive voice back to life for the equally unique Phrazes for the Young, a sunny electronic solo effort.

Although I love all of the members’ individual work, I can’t help but say the following on the verge of a new year…

Dear Strokes,

Please make a comeback. You changed my tween life, and I’m counting on you to do the same for my mid-twenties.

Loyally yours,

Basil
